Kerinia Cusick has worked in clean energy for over a decade and battery storage since 2013. She’s held leadership positions at SunEdison where she was for nearly seven years, as well as a small clean energy consulting firm. Kerinia is also a co-founder of Center for Renewables Integration where she works with states and non-profits on policy issues and regulatory changes to enable storage, and as an expert witness. Successfully launched Commercial and Industrial (C&I) line of business in 2013, combining solar and storage to provide demand charge management services in California and save businesses money.
Developed front-of-meter battery projects participating in ISO/RTO markets.
Worked with investors and brokers to create new hedge products to de-risk merchant battery revenue streams for battery systems participating in markets.
Developed one of the first solar + storage aggregated residential virtual power plant in California.
National expert on storage as a transmission asset, with extensive participation at FERC and ISOs on the topic and expertise on transmission.
Led highly successful national legislative and regulatory team that enabled solar in over 15 states through a combination of incentives, changes to tax codes and zoning, raising net metering caps, actions to change calculations of avoided cost for QFs, getting some of the first community solar legislation passed, and creating an electricity commission in Puerto Rico.
Helped Fortune 100 companies procure renewable energy in PJM.
Master of Science degree from University of Southern California, and Bachelor of Science degree from Drexel University. Kerinia worked in aerospace prior to transitioning her career to clean energy.
